Comments:

• The draw used ball set 2 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £23.74. One in every 52.8 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.89% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £8,832,825.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 3 wins totalling £30.
• The number 21 finally appeared after a 28-week absence, which has left the number 16 with the distinction of not having appeared for the longest time (20 weeks).
• The ticket combination 9, 10, 20, 21, 39, 49 is now the only one to have failed to match at least 2 main numbers in at least one draw since the lottery started. In other words, it's the worst performing ticket combination to date.
• A ticket bought in Ealing, London won a 5+bonus prize of £50,132 wasn't claimed within the required 180 days and was duly added to the Good Causes fund.
• Only one match on each of my two tickets this week sadly...
• £910,116 of unclaimed prizes (2.97% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 23rd January 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
