Comments:
- The draw used ball set 8 in the Lancelot machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.02.
One in every 69.8 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.43% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a profit of £953,611.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 3 wins totalling £30.
This was the only the third time that a jackpot ticket had 3 previous wins.
- The
appearance of the number 44 for the
16th time as a main number has stretched its lead to two over 6 other numbers.
- With "unlucky" 13 appearing for the 8th time, the number 39 remains even
more isolated in terms of its 3 winning number
appearances,
which total 5 less than any other number.
- Remarkably, all of the 7 winning numbers had appeared in at least one of
the previous 6 draws, which is the first time that has happened.
- The number of 5+bonus winners was
the lowest this year.
- The winning number
triple 36, 43 and 45 becomes only
the ninth such triple to have made 3 appearances in the history of the lottery.
- When sorted into ascending order, the third number (43) was the highest
ever in that position and hence it was no surprise that
the sum (254) of the seven
winning balls was the joint second highest ever since the lottery began.
- This was the fourth time that there's been 4 yellow main balls in a draw
(only one other colour, green, has had a similar quad
appearance and that was only once some 5 draws ago)
and there's now been 18 more yellow
main balls than any other colour.
- Nine ticket combinations have
now won 10 prizes (all 3-match £10 wins) in the history of the lottery.
- I won again ! Although the first ticket was
agonisingly close (matched two numbers and had two other numbers
one out), I managed a 3-match win with my second ticket...hooray !
- £657,797 of unclaimed prizes (3.36% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 2nd January 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
Next Lottery: #87 (Saturday 13th July 1996) [12 jackpot winners]
