Comments:
- The draw used ball set 3 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £25.41.
One in every 56.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.77% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £8,790,390.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
- The number 44 stretched its lead at the top of the main number
frequency table to 2 with its
17th appearance as one of the 6 main balls.
- With the third appearance of the number 45 as a bonus number, three
numbers now share that top of that
table.
- The winning number pair 25 and 34 have become only the third
pair
to appear together in three draws since the lottery began.
- There have now been over 100,000 5-match
winners in the history of
the lottery.
- This was the first time that more than 6 millionaires had been created
in each of two consecutive draws.
- I was excruciatingly close as I matched one number of my first ticket
and two numbers (and one out from two other numbers) on my second ticket.
- £815,667 of unclaimed prizes (2.66% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 16th January 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
