Comments:
- The draw used ball set B in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £17.06.
One in every 56.1 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.78% of players).
- This was the 1st Super Draw and the jackpot pool was a guaranteed £10,000,000.
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a profit of £570,986.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
- The jackpot pool prize money of £10m that wasn't won in
this lottery will be added to the total prize fund of
Lottery #9.
- I have confirmed the individual prize amounts and winners by phoning the
Lottery helpline (0645 100 000) and choosing the first option (prizes only)
and fourth option (you talk to an operator who then reads out the number of
winners, though why they can't be on the first option as well is beyond me).
- The jackpot prize pool would have been £8,372,008 if it wasn't topped
up by a further £1,627,992 from previous lotteries (information
courtesy of Jeremy Brandon and confirmed by coding I added to the lottery
program suite in
May 1995).
- Ignoring the artificially rounded jackpot (which wasn't won anyway),
this was the first time a won prize (the 5+bonus) had been an exact multiple
of £1,000.
- The Sun, ITV's teletext and Camelot claim there was a total of
£25,867,440 prize money, but this is the strange sum of the actual
prize money given out (£17.5m) plus the jackpot amount without
the £1.6m top-up (i.e. £8.4m).
- Another set of low numbers, with only one above the "magic" 31 boundary.
- Three main numbers (21,23 and 25) appeared in the same playslip
row - this is the first time it has happened.
- The individual 5+bonus prizes were the largest so far.
- ITV's teletext page 123 incorrectly stated that there were
56,339 four match winners - out by 10,000 ! Camelot discovered this,
faxed them and it was fixed (to 46,339) on Tuesday morning.
- Despite having 2 tickets for the first ever Super Draw,
I only got one number (on my first ticket) out of the 12 :-(.
- £661,106 of unclaimed prizes (3.78% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 6th July 1995 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
Next Lottery: #9 (Saturday 14th January 1995) [133 jackpot winners]
Previous Lottery: #7 (Saturday 31st December 1994) [1 jackpot winner]
