Comments:
- The draw used ball set 4 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.77.
One in every 46.2 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.16% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £10,388,341.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
- The winning number pair 34, 47 is now the only such pair to
have appeared 8 times since the lottery began.
- This was the first time that two consecutive draws have had 10 or more
jackpot winners each.
- Since a "freak draw" exactly 50 draws ago, this draw's
managed to set some post-"freak draw" firsts:
- Highest number of jackpot winners.
- Lowest (won) individual jackpot and 5-match prizes.
- Two consecutive draws with a (won) individual jackpot
prize of less than
£1m.
A lot of this is probably down to the appearance of the triple
07, 14, 21, especially considering that it is known that
7,14,21,28,35,42 is the most popular ticket combination played in the
UK lottery.
- This draw had the worst Saturday
ticket sales for
21 months.
- I was agonisingly close with my second ticket as I matched two and
was one out on a third number. My first ticket didn't match anything.
- £1,224,187 of unclaimed prizes (2.56% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 14th August 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
Next Lottery: #121 (Wednesday 19th February 1997) [1 jackpot winner]
