Comments:

• The draw used ball set 7 in the Merlin machine and the average main Lotto prize was £18.58. One in every 41.4 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.42% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £10,625,929.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 14 wins totalling £140.
• The 97th main number appearance of the number 44 has moved it to within 11 of the frequency table leader (the number 38).
• At the other end of the same table, the number 21 has now moved three clear of the rarest main number (the number 13) after its 64th appearance as one of the six main numbers.

• I matched one number on my first ticket and two numbers on my second, so the three matches added up to zero winnings of course.
• Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 17th October 2002 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
