- The draw used ball set 5 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £18.41.
One in every 41.1 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.44% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £11,120,622.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £40.
- The number 39 has joined the number
37 at the bottom of the main number

after its 25th such appearance. It's still two adrift
at the bottom of the winning number frequency
table after
its 27th such appearance though.
- It was first time that all 7 winning numbers were
odd (and all 6 main numbers were
odd, which has only happened
once before).
- Ticket sales dropped to their lowest level
for a Wednesday draw for almost a year.
- For a Wednesday draw, this had the second highest ever number of jackpot
and 4-match winners and highest ever number of
5+bonus and 5-match winners.
- It also had the lowest individual prizes ever across all Wednesday
draw prize categories, as well the third lowest won jackpot prize of all time
and the second lowest 5+bonus, 5-match and 4-match prizes ever.
- I matched nothing on my first ticket and only one number
on my second, so it looks like I'm back to a string of Wednesday
losses again.
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm GMT on Monday 1st March 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
