Comments:
- The draw used ball set 3 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £34.43.
One in every 46.6 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.15% of players).
- This was the 31st Super Draw and the jackpot pool was a guaranteed £15,000,000.
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £5,596,290.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 3 wins totalling £30.
- The number 14 has now
appeared
50 times as a winning number - more than any other.
- The main number 21 finally
appeared for
the first time in 38 draws. This handed over the longest
absentee mantle to the main number 5 (not
appeared for 27 draws).
- This was only the second ever £15m Wednesday Super Draw,
so it was unsurprising that the
jackpot prize pool was the joint
highest ever for a Wednesday draw.
- Wednesday draws have now awarded over £1 billion in prizes.
- I matched one number on my 1st and 3rd tickets, but nothing
on the 2nd and 4th tickets, so it wasn't such a super draw for me.
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm GMT on Monday 4th January 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
