Comments:

• The draw used ball set 3 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £29.52. One in every 58.9 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.70% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,692,851.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 7 wins totalling £107.
• The jackpot top-up amount was the lowest ever for any rollover to date.
• I matched nothing on my first and third tickets and only one number on my second and fourth tickets, so the rollover didn't help my terrible losing run one little bit.
• A 5+bonus prize of £229,301 won by a ticket bought in the Manchester area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.
• £1,343,702 of unclaimed prizes (3.20% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 22nd October 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
