Comments:
- The draw used ball set 2 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.37.
One in every 45.4 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.20% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £10,637,371.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
- The winning number 13 has now failed to
appear for 40 consecutive draws,
which is the joint third longest such
absence in the history of the lottery.
- The combination of the machine Arthur and ball set 2 was
used
for the 18th time, which is 3 more than any other combination.
- Ticket sales were the highest ever
for a normal Wednesday draw - it was the first time they'd exceeded £30m
for such a draw.
- The high ticket sales meant that the number of 3-match
winners and
the 3-match and total prize pools were also the highest for a normal Wednesday
draw.
- I matched one number on each of my two tickets as I failed to win in the
first "normal" draw for a few weeks...
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm BST on Monday 25th May 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
