Comments:

The draw used ball set 5 in the Merlin machine and the average main Lotto prize was £25.46. One in every 56.6 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.77% of players).

If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £6,700,869.

The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £40.

Ticket sales were the worst for a Saturday draw for over 4 years (in fact, since the third draw !), although bad weather and the Christmas break didn't help.

I matched nothing on either of my two tickets but, to depress me in this Christmas season, I'd have won £10 on my fourth ticket if Camelot had bothered to make this a Super Draw like they should have done.

A 5+bonus prize of £216,056 won by a ticket bought in the Buckinghamshire area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.

£1,368,145 of unclaimed prizes (3.68% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 24th June 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
