• The draw used ball set 8 in the Lancelot machine and the average main Lotto prize was £24.95. One in every 55.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.80% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,705,430.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 10 wins totalling £145.
• The 54th appearance of the main number 13 has left the number 20 two adrift at the bottom of the appropriate frequency table. It also brought the number 13 to within six of the rest after its 61st winning number appearance.
• This draw saw the worst ever ticket sales for a Saturday draw, which also ignominously marked the first time a Saturday draw has ever sold less than £45 million of tickets.
• I matched one number on my first ticket and nothing on my second ticket to continue my losing streak during this very warm weekend.
• Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 24th January 2002 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
