Comments:
- The draw used ball set 5 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.39.
One in every 45.4 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.20% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £10,227,791.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £40.
- This was only the second time that 3 of the main 6 numbers
(02, 10, 27)
had also appeared in the previous draw.
- The 23rd appearance of the winning number 39
still leaves it outright bottom of the winning number frequency
table, albeit
now only three appearances behind the rest of the pack.
- The second appearance
of the bonus number 39 also widened a
gap, but this time it was a gap of two to the non-showing of
both the bonus numbers 18 and 35.
- I matched nothing on either of my tickets, so being
inside a World Cup period hasn't enhanced my luck.
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm GMT on Monday 14th December 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
