Comments:
- The draw used ball set 4 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.44.
One in every 45.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.20% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £8,553,841.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £42.
- The number 44 has stretched its lead to three
at the top of the main number frequency
table after its 31st appearance
and has also taken the outright lead in the
winning number frequency
table having appeared
for the 35th time.
- The winning number 7 finally turned up after an
absence
of 33 consecutive draws, leaving the number
15 to continue the sequence and tie with the number
29 for the second-longest such
absence (34 consecutive
draws) ever.
- The main number pair 27, 44 is one of only six such pairs to
have appeared 7 times since the lottery began.
- Six ticket combinations have now
won 14 prizes in the history of the lottery.
- All-time on-line ticket sales have now
exceeded £10 billion, a fact completely ignored by the
lottery TV show.
- Lucky Dip sales for this week
were the second highest ever.
- I had one match on each of my two tickets predictably, so there's another
£2 in the debit column...
- A 5+bonus prize of £68,758 won by a ticket bought in the Lancaster City Council area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.
- £1,409,177 of unclaimed prizes (2.68% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 8th January 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
