Comments:
- The draw used ball set 6 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £25.69.
One in every 57.1 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.75% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £8,934,054.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
- The main number 37 is now the second rarest
such number after appearing
for the 10th time, leaving the number
19 at the bottom with one less appearance
(and hence the only number left not to have appeared
at least 10 times).
- Even more remarkably, the winning numbers
37 and 39 both moved off the bottom of the
frequency table
with their 12th appearances, leaving just the number 19
on its own at the bottom with one less appearance.
- Ticket sales continued to plunge for
the sixth consecutive Saturday (which has never happened before) and have
hit their lowest Saturday draw level for over
two years.
- The disastrous ticket sales meant that the total
prize pool was also the lowest for
a Saturday draw with a won jackpot for over two years.
- No match on my first ticket and only one on my second
continues a worrying losing streak of 9 draws.
- A 5+bonus prize of £107,096 won by a ticket bought in the Wealdon, East Sussex area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.
- £1,258,533 of unclaimed prizes (3.17% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 11th September 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
