Comments:
- The draw used ball set 5 in the Lancelot machine and the average main Lotto prize was £21.89.
One in every 48.7 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.05% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £10,294,533.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
- The number 5 has now moved into an outright lead at the
top of the main number frequency
table with its 23rd appearance.
It also stretched its lead to two in the winning number frequency
table by being drawn for
the 28th time.
- For the first time since
6th May 1995, the number 39 is
no longer bottom of the main number frequency table thanks to its 10th
appearance, leaving the numbers 19 and 37 in the
basement with nine appearances each. The number 39 also ties with 19 and 37
as the rarest winning numbers with 11 appearances each.
- There have now been exactly 150 blue and 150 pink
main balls since the lottery began.
- Ticket sales dropped for the fifth
consecutive Saturday, which has never happened before. They have now reached
their lowest level for a Saturday draw in two years.
- The scratchcard sales also suffered this
week as they dropped to their third lowest level ever.
- Sickeningly, I matched two numbers and was one out on a third number on
my first ticket, made all the worse by also matching one number on my
second ticket.
- A jackpot prize of £552,002 won by a ticket bought in the Wirral area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.
- £1,780,278 of unclaimed prizes (4.42% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 4th September 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
