Comments:

• The draw used ball set 5 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £17.77. One in every 59.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.68% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £2,005,528.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
• The number 44 has stretched its lead to two at the top of main number frequency table with its 30th appearance and has also become the outright leader of the winning number frequency table by appearing for the 34th time.
• The number 15 has now failed to appear for 60 consecutive draws, which continues to extend its all-time record.
• It's the first time that two successive Saturday draws have failed to produce a jackpot winner since January 1996.
• Lucky Dip sales soared to an all-time weekly record.
• One odd piece of trivia is that tickets sales for this draw were the closest to a "million boundary" (only £30 out !) than for any other draw to date.
• I matched one number on each of my two tickets, continuing my recent atrocious run.
• £1,090,475 of unclaimed prizes (2.50% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 1st January 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
