Comments:
- The draw used ball set 2 in the Lancelot machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.17.
One in every 44.8 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.23% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,349,012.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
- Anthea Turner returned to host the lottery
TV show after missing two shows which were
hosted by Dale Winton instead.
- Lottery fever hasn't gone away as
ticket sales were the fifth
highest ever and a record for a "normal" week, which in turn meant that the
total prize pool was also the highest
for a normal week.
- The number of 4-match
winners was the second highest
ever.
- The number 44 has now caught up with the number 5 by being drawn as a
main ball for the 12th time.
- The two pink (22 and 26) and yellow (40 and 44) balls
mark the 100th and 101st
appearances
of those two colours in the 7 balls that are drawn each week.
- The numbers 2, 22 and 32
(Lottery #8) and
the numbers 9, 32 and 44
(Lottery #7) have appeared together in previous
lotteries.
- Only one match on my ticket this week as I continue to miss out on that
elusive jackpot. If I'd have
bought my fourth choice ticket, however, I
would have won £10, but I only buy that when there's a triple rollover.
- £1,025,166 of unclaimed prizes (2.92% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 1st August 1996 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
Next Lottery: #65 (Saturday 10th February 1996) [6 jackpot winners]
