The next table displays the draw order, revised frequencies and the last prior appearance of each of the 7 balls.
Comments:
- The draw used ball set 3 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £20.35.
One in every 45.3 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.21% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,442,656.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £62.
This was the first time that a jackpot ticket had managed 4 previous
wins. One curious side-note is that 4 of this draw's 6 main numbers were
also in the very first draw.
- It seems that the number 44
is just powering away from the rest with these records:
- Becoming the first number to reach 20 main number
appearances and
reaching that mark with a lead of 4 appearances over any other
main number.
- Extending its lead (now to 2) in the
winning number
frequency table with its 23rd appearance.
- Appearing in five consecutive draws as a winning number
(and in 7 of the last 9 draws as well !), which no other
number has ever managed.
- Helping instigate major changes to the
best performing
tickets, including new best-performing 4-match and jackpot
tickets and also five tickets that have now managed to
win 11 prizes in the history of lottery (yes, all have the
number 44 in them).
- The winning number pairs
03, 44, 05, 14 and 14, 44 joined
4 other pairs at the top of the
table with their
6th appearances.
- The main number triple 03, 05, 14 became only the second such
triple to appear three times in
the history of the lottery.
- Similarly, three more triples were added to the "triple triple"
list in the winning number triples
table, namely
03, 05, 14, 03, 05, 44 and 05, 14, 43.
- This was the first time that two consecutive draws had
two main numbers from the previous draw present (14 and 44 for
this draw, 33 and 44 for the previous draw).
- This was the record-breaking seventh successive draw to fail to include any
consecutive main number pairs.
- Real agony as I matched two numbers and was one out with
three other numbers on both my first and second
tickets - aarrgh !
- £764,438 of unclaimed prizes (2.51% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 27th February 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
