Comments:
- The draw used ball set B in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £50.41.
One in every 89.7 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.12% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £124,227.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
- The total prize pool was the biggest to date because of the rollover from
Lottery #3. This also meant that the average prize
was (and remains) the largest to date.
- The single winner of the jackpot this week has won £5m more
than the the sum of all the jackpots from Lotteries
#1 and
#2 ! That person
also took over half the prize money this week - the first time that's happened.
- Very unusually, the main six numbers and the bonus number were all
above the half way mark (i.e. 25 or higher). In fact, it reversed the trend of
previous weeks by having only one number less than or equal to 31. This
explains why there were less winners overall than any of the previous weeks:
lots of people pick all birthdates, so their numbers are all 31 or less.
- For the first time (since the first week of course), all six numbers and
the bonus number had not appeared in any of the previous sets of winning
or bonus numbers.
- It was also the first time that
all 5 columns of the playslip board
contained a main number.
- The lowest main number was drawn out first, which hadn't happened before.
- No matches at all for me this week on my original set of numbers, but
another near miss with the second set I'd bought for the rollover - 2 numbers
matched and a third was 3 out. Will I ever win ?
- £676,977 of unclaimed prizes (1.96% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 8th June 1995 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
