Comments:
- The draw used ball set 3 in the Vyvyan machine and the average main Lotto prize was £23.73.
One in every 52.8 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.89% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,836,701.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 11 wins totalling £110.
- The 88th appearance of the number 38 has
given it a lead of nine at the top of the main number
frequency table.
It also has a lead of 8 at the top of the winning number
frequency table
after its 103rd such appearance.
- At the other end of the main frequency table, the number 20
has moved to within one of the rest after its 50th appearance
(so, yes, all main numbers have now appeared at least 50 times).
- Ticket sales were the worst for any Saturday
draw in the history of the lottery - the 4th consecutive Saturday that
this has happened. This, naturally enough, resulted in the lowest jackpot
prize pool for a Saturday draw where the jackpot
was won.
- I matched nothing on my first ticket and one number on my second,
but that's not exactly a surprise considering my dismal luck this year so far.
- Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 30th August 2001 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
