Comments:

• The draw used ball set 6 in the Merlin machine and the average main Lotto prize was £30.34. One in every 67.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.48% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,289,521.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 8 wins totalling £360. This was the most money ever won by a jackpot ticket prior to it being drawn and also the third win by that ticket in the last four draws.
• This was only the fourth time that 3 of the 6 main numbers (32, 46, 49) had also appeared in the previous draw and the first time that the 3 recurring main numbers were also the three highest main numbers in both draws.
• I matched one number on my first ticket and nothing on my second, so the hot weather didn't improve my cold streak.
• Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 27th January 2000 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
