Comments:
- The draw used ball set 7 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £18.67.
One in every 41.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.41% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,852,925.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
- For only the second time, there were three numbers less than or equal to
12, which was probably the reason there were such a large number of 3 match
winners (months/dates syndrome).
- The appearance of the numbers 8 and 10 for the first time means that the
lowest number not yet drawn is now a surprisingly high 24.
- In fact, this week was very good for "virgin" numbers - with three of them
(8, 10 and 33) in the draw - which may also partly explain the large
number of winners.
- The bonus number, 28, is the first number to appear twice as
a bonus number.
- Only one match for this week, but at least that's an improvement on the
last couple of lotteries. My third choice
ticket, which I would only buy for
a double rollover of course, would have won £10 this week...
- £842,810 of unclaimed prizes (3.06% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 24th August 1995 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
