Comments:
- The draw used ball set 6 in the Topaz machine and the average main Lotto prize was £31.88.
One in every 61.2 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.63% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,636,705.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 24 wins totalling £339.
- From Saturday 12th July 2003 onwards, Camelot has completely refused to issue per-draw sales figures for any of their individual games,
despite continuously doing so for more than 8 years prior to that date. They blamed the media for only
concentrating on the main Lotto game sales (which have been falling steadily for years), which seems to be a poor excuse to me.
However, games with variable prize tiers such as the main Lotto can have their sales figures reverse-calculated to within a few pounds, which is what I have done.
- All six of the main numbers were the same colour (pink), which has
never happened before. There have been four previous draws with five
main balls the same colour, including 5 pink ones for one previous
draw (and that spookily had 4 of its 5
pink balls the same as tonight's!).
- There were three separate main number pairs with no triples or
quads, which was also a unique occurrence to date.
- It was the second lowest ever individual jackpot prize for a single
rollover draw, only beaten by the mother of all freaky
draws that had 133 jackpot winners.
- Although this was the 13th time that there'd been less 5+bonus
winners than 6-match winners, it was also had the the joint-second
largest difference (4) between the two tiers in those cases. It
tied with draw #1305 (less than 4 months
ago) and was well beaten by the difference of 33 for the record-holding
draw #366.
- Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 5.30pm BST on Thursday 9th April 2009 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
