Comments:
- The draw used ball set 6 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £23.46.
One in every 52.2 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.92% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,103,365.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £40.
- The number 5 appeared as a main
number for the 35th time and as a winning number
for the 42nd time, which narrowed the gap to 3 to the
main number frequency table
leader (the number 44) and to 2 in the
winning number table
(to the number 44 again).
- It was the 9th time that the number 47 has
been a bonus number,
which makes it the joint leader with the number 20.

- A 5+bonus prize of £255,539 won by a ticket bought in the Manchester area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm BST on Monday 22nd June 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
